Marie Johnson

VIDEO:  "Listening to the (her) heart"

In 2002, Marie Johnson was a PhD student working with 3M scientists to develop a computerized stethoscope, when a personal tragedy turned her thoughts to development of a noninvasive, fast, affordable device for the assessment of coronary artery disease. She decided to apply the principles of frequency analysis to create an acoustic device to identify blockage in the coronary arteries. The result is a new and innovative tool, “CADence,” that could change the way specialists detect heart problems before they occur.
Marie is the founder and president of AUM Cardiovascular, Inc., a company now in the process of testing and marketing this medical innovation. Marie holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering and a M.S. and Ph.D. in biomedical engineering. Her vision for the CADence landed her on the “Most Creative People in Business” list by Fast Company magazine in 2015, with the potential of disrupting the $10 billion stress test industry.
